It's Here!

The time to submit is coming up! Tonight at 11:59 PM EST we will be closing author sign ups and submissions. Now, I know that things come up and some might not be able to make the deadline, so if you need an extension...now is the time to tell me. But only if you have signed up.

As always, questions can be sent to @Fandom4RedCross and emailed to fandomfightssandy@gmail.com

Also, if you are an author who have signed up, you will be receiving the compilation as a thank you. As well as the betas and banner makers who have been with us since the beginning :)

Last, but not least. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this. You guys have been amazing and I love running these fundraisers (I've done FandomFightsTsunami which raised close to $70,000 -- amazing. Also, Fandom4Support which raised money for TWLOHA). You guys are what makes this fandom so amazing (Twilight, HP, Hunger Games...etc) and worth being in. I wish more people knew about it. We have the power to change things and make a positive impact on others who need our help. Be proud of yourselves as authors, retweeters, donators, banner makers, betas... and anyone who helped spread the word.

Dates:
Submissions/Sign-ups due: December 20th 11:59 PM EST -- Late submissions may be sent in up until Friday December 21st 11:59 PM EST
Compilation sent out: December 23rd ... most likely in the evening EST
Donations accepted and compilation sent out up until: January 15th 11:59 PM EST
Authors may post their work: January 16th (make sure to tweet us and we will RT where to read!)

Update and Announcement!

Hello everyone!

I hope that you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving. Something I want to bring up, and it is hard to think about for some, is how easy it is to take Thanksgiving for granted. While so many of you were with family and friends, there were thousands of people who were unable to gather in their homes or a place to get together for Thanksgiving. People are without homes or the homes that are still in tact have so much damage to them that they are un-liveable. The need to donate continues as people are trying to recover every single day. Please, click the donate button and give what you can.

We have raised over $700.00 in the last month and I cannot thank everyone who has helped enough for their genoristy. We have 51 authors signed up and have already received some submissions! We will be looking them over just to verify that they fit the criteria. So if you don't receive an email from us other than the confirmation of receiving your submission, do not worry about it!

Finally, I am taking this opportunity to announce something very cool! An author has emailed us with a cool opportunity. Read below:
Dear FFS

I would like to offer my services as a writer for the fandom. Instead of offering a particular story or outtake I would like to offer the chance for someone to pick an idea or a story and have me write a one shot (5k words or more) using twilight characters as a base. They can give me as much or as little as they want to go on and can be any rating, the main thing I can't write is slash (it just doesn't work when I try).

If you are interested, please sound off below in the comments or you can email us and we will forward you to her!

That is it for now! Happy Holidays and please help in any way you can! It could make a huge difference.

F. A. Q.

Hello!

We are doing so well! Please keep spreading the news and the information in any way you can!

I have noticed some popular questions and would like to address them here! Sorry for not having them addressed before now :) If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask!

1. Where do we submit our work for the compilation?
2. Do we need a header included in our submissions?
  • Yes! Please include in this order: Title, Author Name, Rating, Summary. Also, if you have your banner, please include it in the email, and if you can in your document. Make sure the submission is in .doc form.
3. I want to offer my services as a beta or banner maker. Where can I sign up?
  • Send us an email/tweet/DM with the information you would like to give those who need it. How would you liked to be contacted?
4. I'm having trouble getting my confirmation from The Red Cross, what should I do?
  • We had this problem with Fandom4Tsunami a year ago. First check your spam box. If it is not there, you might have to email the red cross. They are very nice and should be able to help you right away!
5. I want to donate but I have another organization that is helping the victims of the hurricane, can I use that one?
  • While we are using The Red Cross as our main organization to donate to, you may send us your receipt from another one and it will count.

We will be adding to this as we go! Thanks everyone! Address your questions in the comment box below or by tweeting/emailing us.

How Important Fundraisers Like These Are

This afternoon I was checking emails and this one personally touched me. The author has given permission to post this and I want to thank her for sharing her story.

Dear organizers of Fandom Fights Sandy,

Living in one of the many areas of New York hit by Hurricane Sandy, it has been difficult on many levels. Our town had major flooding along the coast and was completely out of power. Our high school is housing evacuees from other communities and four days since the storm moved through our roads are being cleared of the trees and debris and power is slowly being restored to the main roads with the estimate of 7-10 days for full restoration being close to accurate.  We finally have a way to get gas for our cars and the lucky few who have generators, even if the line is three hours long at least.  And for the most part we are the fortunate ones.
I saw the beginning of the devastation on TV like you Monday night before we lost power and the things we've heard since are heartbreaking.

I've participated in several Fandom charities like this one, but when I saw the email about this charity come through in the mass alerts I got this morning when phone service finally seemed to make a turn for the better, I started to cry.

I'm not kidding when I tell you we were relatively lucky here, but to know that my fandom, my friends were rallying behind all of us struggling without heat and with limited food thanks to the lack of power and in some areas, lack of the ability to get supplies in, it made me so proud to be a part of this community. This has been both physically and emotionally exhausting and it is just the beginning.  There are many less fortunate than us who will be helped a great deal by your generosity.

Feel free to post this message on your page as a personal story from the storm. Thank you for your efforts.
With heartfelt gratitude,

Agoodwitch
